A Romantic Southall Farm & Inn Wedding in Franklin, Tennessee

There are some wedding venues that give you something beautiful everywhere you turn, and Southall Farm & Inn is absolutely one of them.
Set in the rolling countryside of Franklin, Tennessee, Southall feels tucked away from everything while still being close to Nashville. Between the lake, open landscapes, beautiful architecture and refined interiors, there are so many different ways to photograph a wedding here without ever needing to leave the property.
This Southall Farm & Inn wedding was such a beautiful example of why we’ve quickly fallen in love with photographing weddings in Franklin.
A Wedding Day Surrounded by the Tennessee Countryside
One of our favorite things about Southall is how much the landscape becomes part of the wedding day.
Instead of feeling like you’re moving between separate photo locations, everything flows naturally through the property. The scenery changes as you move from the Inn to the lake and into the surrounding countryside, which gives the final gallery so much variety while still feeling completely cohesive.
For us, that’s the sweet spot.
We want couples to have beautiful portraits without spending their entire wedding day taking photos.

Wedding Portraits at Southall Farm & Inn
Southall gives us so much to work with when it comes to portraits.
The open Tennessee landscape is beautiful for wider photographs that really show where you are, while the architecture and interiors give us cleaner backgrounds for more editorial images.
And then there’s the evening light.
Golden hour in Franklin is hard to beat, and Southall has plenty of open space to take advantage of it.
We always love finding 10–15 minutes in the timeline to sneak away from the reception for evening portraits. It’s usually one of the first opportunities a couple has had to slow down together all day—and the light isn’t bad either.

Why Southall Photographs So Beautifully
After photographing here, one of the things that stood out to us most was simply the amount of variety.
Within one wedding gallery, you can have photographs that feel completely different from one another:
- Open Tennessee countryside
- Lake views
- Refined interiors
- Natural greenery
- Architectural portraits
- Soft golden-hour light
- Beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces
That variety is especially perfect for our style of photography because we love mixing more intentional, editorial portraits with the candid moments happening throughout the day.
You don’t have to choose between the two.

A Franklin Wedding Venue Made for the Entire Weekend
Southall is also more than a ceremony and reception venue.
Couples can host multiple parts of their wedding weekend on the property, and guests have the option to stay at the resort in guest rooms, suites and cottages. Southall currently offers spaces for welcome parties, rehearsal dinners, wedding celebrations and farewell brunches.
For couples with guests traveling to Tennessee, we love the idea of everyone being able to settle in and actually enjoy the weekend together.
It also creates opportunities for photographs beyond the traditional wedding-day moments—the people you love arriving, gathering for dinner, relaxing together and celebrating over several days.
